How it all started
In the late 1950s a group of people living in Elk Grove Village met together and felt called to begin a new church. Their desire was to impact people with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ in what was then a brand new suburban community. In February 1959 the group was incorporated under the name, Elk Grove Baptist Church, affiliated with the Baptist General Conference.
In 1964 they broke ground for construction of their own building on Devon Avenue in Itasca. Ten years later, the growing congregation moved into its Âcurrent location on the corner of Beisner and Gloucester in Elk Grove Village.
From 1987-2017 attendance was growing and additional space was constructed to accommodate the ministries of the church that was now reaching more people with the gospel.

Expanding the vision
In the year 2018, with a desire to move forward in new and relevant ways, a plan and process was put in place to change the name of the church. In April 2019 the congregation launched its new name, Village Point Church, and a new vision to reach the surrounding communities with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ.
