JUNE 3, 2020

Dear Village Point Church Family,

Greeting from your Elder Team. Thanks for your continued prayers during this time of waiting on the Lord. We want to update you on our plans to Re-gather for Sunday in-person worship services. Like all of you, we are longing for the day when we will meet together again in our building.

As Elders we are called to shepherd the flock. We do this out of love and care for all of our members. We recognize that the COVID-19 virus is a real issue. For some people its effects are like the flu — for others it can be fatal. Because of this we do not want to move prematurely.

Here are our initial plans for Re-gathering. We are bathing these plans in prayer and trust you will join us.

  • At this point we are targeting to Re-gather for Sunday in-person worship in early July. This will coincide with Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan that allows for gatherings of up to 50 people. (This date is subject to change based on COVID-19 data in our state.)
  • Once a specific date is set for in-person worship gatherings it will be communicated to you.
  • For now we will continue to worship on Sunday mornings online only at villagepoint.church/stream.

Church may look a little different when we first Re-gather as new protocols may need to be observed and some ministries suspended or altered. We recognize, too, that some people may not feel comfortable returning right away. We will continue to offer our worship services online at villagepoint.church/stream even after we Re-gather.

If you have any questions regarding our Re-gathering, please feel free to contact the church office at 847-593-8337 or via email at info@villagepoint.church. We miss you and we love you!

MAY 1, 2020  |  9:00PM

Dear Village Point Church Family,

We wanted to give you an update regarding the COVID-19 Virus. Current recommendations from the CDC mandate that gatherings of 50 or more people should be cancelled until May 15, 2020 at the earliest. Illinois Governor Pritzker has extended the stay at home orders through May. In accordance with these Guidelines, we will continue worship services online only at villagepoint.church/stream until further notice. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends, neighbors, co-workers and classmates to join us via livestream on Sunday mornings at 10:30 A.M.

All midweek activities remain cancelled until further notice. Please continue to visit the church website for any changes to our schedule. We will provide regular updates through our “Look What’s Happening at Village Point” e-newsletter on Thursday mornings. If you would like to subscribe to our weekly email, please send an email to: info@villagepoint.church.

Let’s continue to pray for each other, our community, and our world especially during this time of the Pandemic. We trust God will keep you and your family in His care. If you need assistance with anything, please contact the church office at 847-593-8337. You can also submit a prayer request by clicking here.

We look forward to the day when we will all worship together again in our location!

march 14, 2020  |  1:20 pm

Dear Village Point Church Family,

You may have already received a letter and/or email sent out yesterday indicating that we were going to be holding services this Sunday. However, due to the recent events of the last two days:

  • President Trump declaring the COVID-19 Virus a National Emergency
  • Governor Pritzker’s declaration of a state of disaster and closing all state schools until March 30
  • Our local Elk Grove Government cancelling all non-essential meetings and activities and closing some facilities including the Park District and Library
  • The CDC’s recommendation for people to keep a 6ft distance from one another to prevent the spread of the disease

We feel it is prudent not to gather in our building, but to gather together online only for at least the next 3 Sundays (March 15, 22, 29). You can Livestream the Worship Services beginning tomorrow at 10:30 A.M. at villagepoint.church/livestream.

This is new for all of us but we ask you to use this time to continue to pray and tell others to join us via Livestream. As you know the church is really the people of God and not just a building. So even though we may not be meeting together the next few weeks we are still the church. That said, we hope to be meeting back together in our building on Palm Sunday April 5 at our usual time.

Out of love and concern for you, your family and our community, we are cancelling all our services for the remainder of March including Sunday school, Wednesday night activities, Life Groups and the Third Thursday Prayer. We will keep you informed of any updates and look forward to finding ways to connect with you via email during the week.  You can also check the COVID-19 News page on our website for updates.

Please continue to pray for our world, our country and our neighbors.

Village Point Church Elders

MARCH 13, 2020  |  1:00 PM

Dear Village Point Church Family,

As you are all aware, our world is dealing with a serious situation in the COVID-19 virus. Many events have been cancelled and churches are struggling with whether or not to continue their services.

In light of these recent developments, the Elders have met and prayerfully decided the following:

  • At least for now, Sunday Services will continue as planned both Sunday school and Sunday Worship (but no food or coffee)
  • The Third Thursday Prayer Meeting will still take place at 7:00 on March 19
  • Life Groups will continue to meet at their discretion. Food consumption is not encouraged
  • Wednesday Night Activities (Dinner, Kid Connection and Student Ministries) will be cancelled until further notice
  • AA, basketball, soccer, and other groups that use our building midweek will be cancelled until further notice
  • The Annual Celebration and Sue’s Retirement lunch will tentatively be postponed to Sunday, April 19.

We know that as Believers in Christ we are not to worry (Matthew 6:25-34) and as we learned last week God is bigger than any storm (Mark 4: 35-41) including this virus. However, we also want you to know that our decision to cancel events is motivated out of love for you, your family and our Community and we want to be pro-active to help keep you healthy. Limiting some access to the building and refraining from sharing meals together are a couple ways to take some precautions to keep people safe.

Please continue to check the church website at villagepoint.church  or our Facebook page for any updates regarding service cancellations. We will keep you informed as to any changes to this schedule, and when we will resume our normal activities on Wednesday nights and with our Community partners such as AA.

Some of our Safety Team members that have experience and expertise in the medical field have some suggestions to help keep us healthy and we will make you aware of those this Sunday.  As always, if you are not feeling well, we highly encourage you to stay home and join the service by live streaming at villagepoint.church/livestream.

Thank you for your continued faithfulness to Jesus and others at Village Point Church. We look forward to the days when this virus is in the past! Please feel free to contact the church office at 847-593-8337 with any questions.

Serving Christ Together,

Pastor Leandro
